India, France, Britain and Norway all want to completely ditch gas and diesel cars in favor of cleaner vehicles.

CNN MONEY article discusses how many countries are polically motivated to go green with electric and hybrid cars. Britain and France will end sales of gas and diesel powered vehicles by 2040 and India is moving toward an “all electric” transportion fleet by 2030.

  1. Electric cars (along with electric buses, trains and ferries) are a good news story in the sometimes discouraging battle against climate change. In Washington State 46% of green house gasses come from transportation, yet all cars and much of other forms of transportations can be electrified- and in fact are being electrified with, for example, France, Norway and General Motors committing to excl;usively electric cars as soon as 2025.
    The trick now is to make sure these vehicles are charged with clean electricity, as most electricity in the US is still generated by fossil fuel based utilities
